When it comes to micro- and macronutrients, there are various stakeholders in both the private and professional context. Here are some relevant groups:
Private context
- Individuals and families: Individuals and families are the end consumers of food and have a vested interest in a balanced diet.
- Health and fitness community: Individuals who are actively interested in a healthy lifestyle, including fitness enthusiasts, athletes and people who value their health.
- Educational institutions: Schools and universities play a role in educating people about nutrition and food.
Communities and social groups
- Local communities and social groups can provide a platform to share nutrition information and develop collaborative approaches to promote healthy lifestyles.
- Private and professional context
- Farmers and food producers:
- Farmers and food producers influence the quality of food available and can contribute to the availability of nutrient-rich foods.
Professional Context
- Healthcare providers: Doctors, dietitians and nurses play a key role in advising and supporting individuals in relation to their diet.
- Food industry: Companies in the food industry influence the production, distribution and marketing of food and can therefore influence nutritional quality.
- Government agencies: Ministries of health and food authorities can develop guidelines and regulations that influence the nutrition of the population.
- Research institutions: Scientific research institutions carry out studies on micro- and macronutrients, which can form the basis for nutritional recommendations.
- Non-governmental organizations (NGOs): NGOs can conduct nutrition education programs and advocate for improved nutritional conditions in communities.
- Companies in the health and wellness sector: Companies that offer dietary supplements, health products or fitness services are also relevant stakeholders.
- Insurance companies: Companies in the health insurance sector may have an interest in promoting preventative measures to improve the health of their policyholders.
A holistic approach to the promotion of micro- and macronutrients requires the collaboration and commitment of all relevant stakeholders to develop and implement effective measures.
Based on this stakeholder map, I conducted further research in the areas of (alternative) analysis methods, risk groups, as well as friends and family. I also conducted four interviews with doctors and nutritionists.
